About our College
Ambli Dodda Bharamappa First Grade College, Harapanahalli, was established in the year 1972 by Veerasaiva Vidyavardhaka Sangha (V.V Sangha), Ballari, a pioneer educational organization.
A.D.B. First Grade College is the Rural College of V.V.Sangha, Ballari, located at a place where the Fort of Raja Somashekara Nayaka flourished on the elevated place. The college is constructed by a donation of One Lakh by Late Sri Ambli Mallappa and gift of 6.93 acres of land with ready basement for a building by Sri.Seshaji Hastimal Jain, the college was started in its most ideal location.
The stalwarts of V.V.Sangha Ballari, Sri Allum Karibasappa, Sri N.Thippanna and Sri Mariyappa with prominent persons of Harapanahalli, Sri T.M.Gangadharaiah, Sri K.Divakara,Sri Katti Seturamachar, Sri Arundi Ningappa, Sri G.Kotrappa, Sri Bidri Virupakshappa, Sri Ambli Shivashankarappa, Sri Kotreshappa, Sri K.Malkappa and other concerned people of the town took up the cause of Higher Education and established this institution. It is due to their self-less sacrifice, service to humanity and their vision to cater to the needs of the students of Harapanahalli and near by villages, our college came to existence in 1972 blessed and inaugurated by veteran leader Sri S.Nijalingappa, Ex-Chief Minister of Karnataka.
The college started with a humble strength of 45 students in B.A. and B.Sc under the patronage of Karnataka University, Dharwad. In the beginning we had 5 class rooms, 3 laboratories and a small library. With the increase in strength a need to have a new building was felt. Because of the financial assistance of V.V.Sangha and UGC grants; we were able to improve the necessary infrastructure. At present the college has 28 class rooms, a good library facility and well equipped laboratories. The strength of the college and number of faculty members increased considerably since 1975. Dedication, devotion and encouragement of the management, dedicated faculty enabled the institution to grow at a faster rate. To fulfil the demands of the growing hard ware industry, Electronics course in B.Sc, programme was introduced in 1986. Optional English in B.A. programmes was introduced in 2006. And B.Com course was introduced from 2011.
